Using our Keyword Research and Keywords Combination tabs, you can view all essential indicators to identify which keywords to add to your metadata.
βΉοΈ The Keyword Table only displays the keywords within the Keyword List you are currently viewing. You can switch between lists or add/remove keywords from a list.
You can choose to view the data for your app only
Here, the indicators are only computed for the app Amazon Prime, not for the competitors shown next to it - the boxes are unchecked.
1. Volume
The "Volume" column displays the volume of the keyword.
For all countries where Apple Search Ads are available (over 60 countries), we use the Apple Search Popularity - which is currently the most precise indicator of volume available, computed by Apple directly.
The Search Pop. is a number between 5 and 100 that gives an indication of the popularity of the keyword (not an absolute number of searches). The Search Pop. indicator is exponential, with a median of around 27. Volume 5 generally means that they are very few searches and that the keyword is almost not used in searches.
π‘ Volume indicators have a graph icon next to it. This is the Volume History.
When you add a keyword to your list, either from our keyword suggestion panel or directly from your own ideas, we'll first show you the latest known search volume for that keyword. Please note, if the keyword hasn't been followed by any users for an extended period, this volume data might be older than three months. However, you can expect to see an updated value with the current day's search volume by the following day!
2. Maximum Reach
"Maximum Reach" represents the total number of times your target keyword is searched for in one month in the selected country. In other words, "Maximum Reach" represents the Impressions an app would receive if it was continuously ranking #1 for a specific keyword.
How to use the "Maximum Reach" keyword metric:
The core goal of keyword optimization is to increase your app's Impressions. Use "Maximum Reach" to understand the maximum search visibility your app could gain from a specific keyword.
As "Maximum Reach" considers the relationship between Search Popularity (Volume) and Search Impressions (the number of times an app is viewed in search results), it more accurately represents the exponential nature of Search Popularity.
Even if your app has a high keyword visibility, this won't guarantee that your app will be downloaded (this depends on your creatives, competition monitoring, CPPs, etc). To understand how many installs your app is currently getting from a keyword, take a look at our "App Installs" keyword metric.
3. Results
The "Results" column displays the total number of apps that rank for a keyword:
On Google Play: up to 250 apps.
On the App Store: up to 250 apps since iOS 16. Check this blog if you want to know more about keyword research after iOS 16
4. Difficulty
The "Diff." column displays the Difficulty indicator of a keyword, or in other words how difficult it would be for any app to rank in the top 10 for that keyword. It ranges from 0 to 100, 100 meaning that it is very difficult to rank on that keyword.
5. Chance
The "Chance" indicator aims to show the likelihood that your app specifically would manage to rank in the top 10 of that keyword. It takes into account the strength (using the App Power indicator) of the main app that you're tracking and the difficulty of the keyword
6. KEI
The "KEI" is the Keyword Efficiency Index: it aims to show which keywords have the best potential for your app, by finding the best combination of high volume and high chance score. Keywords with a high KEI are usually keywords you have a likely chance to rank in the top 10 AND have a good volume.
7. Relevancy Score
The relevancy score is an indicator between 0 and 100, indicating how relevant a keyword is for your app. A higher score indicates higher relevancy. The relevancy score is based on the app store ranking algorithm, hence targeting highly relevant keywords ensures that your app shows up when users search for the solution you offer.
8. App Rank
The "Rank" column indicates the rank of your app on that keyword, i.e the position of your app in the search results for that keyword.
If you click the small graph icon next to it, you also have access to your ranking history for that keyword, as long as we have tracked that keyword before on AppTweak.
9. App Growth
The "Growth" column indicates the number of ranks that the given app has gained/lost on a given word since yesterday.
πΌ The "in" green arrow means that your app was not ranking on this keyword but now it is.
π½ The "out" red arrow means that your app was ranking on this keyword but now it isn't.
10. App Installs
The "Installs" column shows the estimate of the total number of installs your app specifically received (organically) from being ranked on that keyword in the last 30 days.
βοΈThese KPIs / metrics are updated every 24 hours, usually between 10 PM and 10 AM CEST.
π‘ With the Google Play Console integration, you can see your real keyword installs in this section. Haven't integrated your Google Play Console? Get started using this link!
11. App Conversion (cvr) %
The "cvr %" column provides insights into the estimated conversion rate of the app based on its ranking position in the search results for a specific keyword. The calculation is simple: App Installs divided by Maximum Reach.
App Installs can be either our estimated figures for an app or your actual installs per keyword if you have integrated your Google Play Console with AppTweak. This column offers a valuable metric to gauge the app's performance in terms of conversion, helping you optimize your strategies for better results.
12. Live Search
The "Live Search" button enables you to get the search results for a particular keyword at a specific moment. When you click on it, AppTweak fetches all apps' ranking and their position at that very moment.
The Rank can therefore vary from what is shown in the "Rank" column since that is only updated every 24 hours.
π‘ The Live Search (performed for iOS 12) shows the rich results, not only the Search Results - which means you can see all the other results displayed: ads, developer bundles, in-app purchases, and more. This enables you to have an idea of how "polluted" the Search Result is, and what might be hiding your visibility, even if you're ranked 1st or 2nd. The Rank column only takes into account actual app results.
The "Past results" section of the Live Search shows all the apps that have been ranked in the top results for that keyword over time.
Customize your Keyword Table
Click on the blue button with the gear icon. Here, you can customize your Keyword Table and tick the boxes for which metrics you would like visible on the table.
You can also choose to view the data for several apps at once β yours and your competitors'
You can click on each competitor's icon to select it or use the "select all" button.
Once you have selected competitors, we will show a comparison of Rank, Growth, Installs, and Installs %.
If you have a lot of competitors, scroll to the right to see more columns displayed.
Improved Functionalities for Spreadsheet Users
Tired of manually adding commas between the keywords you want to track? Just copy-paste a column of keywords into our input bar, and we'll do it for you!
Then, click the button on the top-right of the table to export your keywords directly to a Google spreadsheet.
Auto-translate your keywords to English
We also have a useful feature if you work on apps that are localized in several languages. Use the "auto-translate to English" button to display the meaning of the keywords, so you can perform your analysis without speaking the language!
If you're using AppTweak in French, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese (Simplified) the keywords will automatically translate into that language.
Switch to the Combinations view
Right below the keyword table, you can have access to the keyword combinations. Here, we aggregate your list so that all the long-tail keywords appear under their main combination. For each combination, we'll display its number of occurrences but also the average volume, the sum of installs, and all the other metrics. For example, in the screenshot below the word "book" appears 5 times and it brings 69 installs in total, all coming from "book summaries".
Taking into account long-tail keywords will take you to the next level. You'll be able to identify which keywords are good opportunities but also monitor much more precisely which keywords have the biggest impact when they're added to your metadata.
