How it works
There are few tools available that map AI search traffic, mostly from a web SEO angle. But apps donβt behave like websites - visibility depends on different signals, competitors, and dynamics.
To map AI visibility for apps, AppTweak uses our 10+ years of real app store data and market intelligence to:
Derive 1,000+ core user goals (we call these "intents") for hundreds of app verticals. Our data scientists analyzed how real apps position themselves (the app product - not the brand or website) across DNA subcategories. These intents reflect an extensive range of reasons users search for different types of apps.
Curate 10,000+ prompts that express specific intents in various ways, all grounded in ways people actually search for apps usingChatGPT.
Define key metrics that allow app marketers to reliably measure, compare, and improve their appβs AI visibility.
AppTweak currently tracks over 10,000 prompts across thousands of intents, with aggregated prompt data refreshed weekly.

How to use AI Visibility in AppTweak
AI Visibility Overview
When you first open AI Visibility, you get a clear understanding of your app's visibility in AI search with two high-level KPIs:
AI Visibility Score β a benchmark (0-100) showing how visible your app is in AI-generated answers. The score reflects both how often and how highly your app is mentioned compared to all other apps.
Sentiment Score β a measure of how positively your app is described when it is mentioned. When AI mentions apps, it often includes commentary praising specific features, noting limitations, or positioning it relative to competitors. The Sentiment Score captures the average tone of those mentions, helping you understand not just whether your app is recommended, but how it's being characterized.
Your Intent Performance
Below the overview KPIs, you'll find a table of all the intents your app appears on.
This is an aggregation of all AI answers collected since April 1, 2026. Your app won't necessarily be mentioned for every prompt within an intent, but it will have appeared in at least one AI answer within an intent.
π‘ AppTweak shows every intent for which your app was mentioned in at least one tracked AI response, based on the thousands of prompts we run each week and aggregate over time.
Your number of intents reflects the range of user needs where your app is being recommended. Fewer intents means your app appears in a narrower set of contexts. No data means your app has not been mentioned in any tracked AI responses so far. This is already a valuable signal to start optimizing for.
What to do next:
Compare intent count with your AI Visibility Score. A low score + low intent coverage suggests an opportunity to invest in AI discovery.
Add competitors and compare. The Opportunities tab will highlight where they are being recommended and you are not.
If competitors also show low coverage, it may reflect a category-wide gap - and an early opportunity to improve visibility.
The Intent Performance table includes four columns:
Intent Visibility β the percentage of prompts for a given intent where your app is mentioned. A score of 60% means your app was mentioned for 60% of the prompts tracked for that intent. This is the primary metric for understanding how consistently your app is being recommended for a specific user need.
Sentiment β how positively your app is described when it's mentioned for an intent. Sentiment helps you understand not just whether your app is recommended, but how it's being characterized.
Position β a weighted measure of how well your app performs for this intent. Apps that are mentioned frequently and ranked highest will have the #1 position.
Top Apps β the apps with the highest positions in AI answers for this intent (based on the Position metric).
See past AI answers from ChatGPT
Click into any intent to see the prompts asked and the latest AI answer for each one. A green dot shows prompts where your app has been mentioned. Note that your app may have appeared for a prompt in the past, but not in the most recent response.
To get more context, you can view the latest raw response from ChatGPT. Clicking "See all answers" opens a pop-up with the full response. By default, you'll see the most recent answer, and you can use the bottom-right buttons to explore earlier answers.
Compare AI visibility to competitors
Add competitors to your app to unlock the full competitive view. You'll see all the intents those competitors appear on alongside yours, with side-by-side metrics for each.
Use the filters above the table to quickly identify:
Opportunities β intents where at least one competitor appears but your app does not
Shared β intents where both your app and competitors appear
Unique β intents where only your app appears
Position Map
The Position Map allows you to take a step back to see how your app is positioned versus competitors across two dimensions:
Intent Visibility β how often the app appears across all tracked prompts for a specific intent. Higher visibility means more frequently recommended for that user goal.
Sentiment Score β how positively the app is described when ChatGPT mentions it. Higher sentiment means more favorable positioning.
Together, these dimensions help you quickly identify which apps are both highly visible and positively perceived, and where your app stands relative to them.
You can explore the map from two angles:
By Intent β see how competitive each intent is and which apps dominate it.
By App β see how any app performs across all the intents it appears on. Useful for identifying your strongest positioning areas.
Note: Data frequency
Intent KPIs display aggregated performance data refreshed weekly and collected since April 1, 2026, to provide a reliable picture of your app's overall visibility rather than a single snapshot.
