With more than 5 million apps in the app stores, both Apple and Google are continuously trying to optimize their interface to make it easier for users to discover new apps to download.
To help publishers better understand how people find their app, the stores break down their metrics by source and make a difference between Search traffic and Browse / Explore traffic. However, that's it. Mobile Marketers do not get further information into where these downloads come from, etc.

Trends & History
In the Trends & History section of the Explore Tab, you can find out exactly when and where the selected apps were featured in the Google Play Store.
⚠️ The Explore Tab is the name of this tab specifically for Android apps. For iOS apps, this tab is called Browse.
Total number of featurings by app
In this bar chart, you can see all of the featurings of the app we added (TikTok, United States, Google Play Store) and all its competitors based on the selected date range. This chart also splits the featurings by the Apps, Games, and Family tabs on the Google Play Store.
TikTok and Spotify (United States, Google Play Store) receive the largest number of featurings compared to the rest of its competitors (YouTube, Instagram, Twitch).
Daily number of featurings by app
In this line chart, you can see the evolution of daily featurings each app receives and how volatile they can be.
Total vs. Distinct featurings (vs. Unique featurings)
Below, we show more insights into your apps' distinct featurings:
Total featurings: As your app may be featured multiple times in the same story, we count the total number of stories over the date range, even if some appear over multiple days.
⚠️ The number of times an app was featured ("total featurings") can exceed the "number of unique days of featuring" because an app can be featured in more than one story each day.
Distinct featurings: The number of individual & different stories over the date range.
⚠️ "Distinct featurings" are not the same as "Unique featurings" (in the Browse > "All Stories" tab). In the "All Stories" tab, unique featurings are those in which your app is featured, but your competitors are not.
In the table below, AppTweak provides some KPI metrics to help you better understand the total number of featurings and growth over your desired date range.

New - Promotional Content
Not so long ago, Google released promotional content on Google Play, new assets meant to boost the awareness of your in-app events, offers, and major updates to targeted user groups and countries to improve engagement, monetization, and lifetime value.
More recently, Google started to feature some of this promotional content, giving them extra visibility in the Games or Apps tabs. In AppTweak, you can observe & analyze which of your competitors has had its promotional content featured by the store.
AppTweak will help you understand where (in which tab of the store) the promotional content was featured by Google and for how long. You can click on a promotional card to expand it and see all the details:
Your Unique Featurings
Based on the app you have added, you can view all of your unique featurings in this section. Unique Featurings are featurings that only the app you have selected appears in but the rest of the competitors don't.
Your Shared Featurings
In the Your Shared Featurings section, you can gather insights on all of the featurings you share with the competitors based on the specific collection.
Missed Opportunities
Missed Opportunities are featurings in which your added competitors were featured in but the main app we have selected wasn't.
