On every graph in our Analytics section (as well as Reporting Studio), you'll see the "Analyze ASO Impact" button:

This powerful feature allows you to easily cross data from different sources in one single graph. This allows you to visualize and measure the impact of your ASO work o all your key performance metrics available in AppTweak, such as downloads or category rank.

Plot important events related to your ASO strategy

Metadata Changes

The Events tab will display all changes made to your app's metadata (icon, subtitle, description…) directly on the graph. This way, you can easily measure the impact of the change on your downloads, category ranking, revenues, etc.

To show your metadata changes, open "Analyze ASO Impact" and select the tab "Timeline Events". In this section, you will be able to select any metadata element that you want to analyze.

💡 Pro Tip: Don't select too many elements at once (e.g. Version updates) or your graph will become too crowded and it will be hard to get good insights.

Featurings

If you open the tab "Featurings" of the "Analyze ASO Impact", you can show the dates of your app's recent featurings in the graph and see if they had an impact on your app’s visibility.

On iOS, we track all apps that were featured in stories and app collections in the tabs "Today", "Apps" and "Games" of the App Store. On Google Play, on the other hand, we track featurings in all categories of the tabs "Apps", "Games" and "Family".

💡 Pro Tip: If you want to measure the visibility boost that your app received after being featured in a story in the App Store, we recommend that you connect your App Store Account to AppTweak. You'll then be able to see if your app's Impressions coming from "App Store Browse" had a sudden spike on the exact date of the featuring.

As you can see in this example, not all featurings have the same impact. That's why it is important to measure and learn from them:

Algorithm Changes

Whenever there is an algorithm change, you can see it directly in the analytics section thanks to the ASO Impact feature.

💡 Pro Tip: Sometimes, changes in Apple or Google's ranking algorithm can affect your app negatively. Turn on the "algo changes" option at all times so that you never miss an algorithm update.

In-App Events and Promotional Content

In the section "In-App Events" or "Promotional Content" (depending on app store), you can visualize when specific in-app events or promotional content were run. This will display any in-app events or promotions that happened during the selected time range, if any.

By adding these events to your analysis, you can get a clear understanding of how promotional strategies contribute to app growth and overall performance.

💡 Pro Tip: Correlating your In-App Events or Promotional Content with spikes in downloads or other metrics is a great way to evaluate the incremental impact of your promotional campaigns. Use this feature to optimize future event strategies and invest in those that offer the best returns.

⚠️ In-App Events and Promotional Content in ASO Impact are not yet available in Reporting Studio, stay tuned!

Understanding spikes and drops in your app analytics

In reality, sometimes you see a spike or a drop in your downloads that you don't know how to explain.

Thanks to ASO Impact, you can investigate the cause of these movements. Simply test all event types until you find one that matches the date of the downloads increase or decrease. Of course, you won't always find the answer but at least you can quickly exclude some causes.

Plot multiple metrics in one graph

Another feature that comes with ASO Impact is the ability to compare two different metrics in one graph and understand their correlation.

For example, you may want to understand how your app downloads impact your app's rank in its category. This can be done very easily:

To use this feature, open "Analyze ASO Impact" and select the section "Plot Against". In this tab, you can select any metric from your app analytics. Users that don't have any integrations will be able to compare Category Rank, App Power, Download Estimates, and Revenue Estimates.

On the other hand, users that have connected their Apple or Google developer accounts with AppTweak will see a lot more options such as: Downloads, Product Page Views, Impressions, Store Listing Acquisitions, Store Listing Visitors, Conversion Rate, Revenues, Paying Users, In-App Purchases, Subscriptions.
