With our Search Ads feature, you can find out which keywords competitors are bidding on with Apple Search Ads, who else is bidding on your paid keywords and monitor the Share of Voice of your top keywords.

To access these features, go to the ASO Intelligence tool, select and app, and click on the "Ad Intelligence" tab.

1. Compare the terms you bid on with your competitors and find new keyword ideas

The 1-1 comparison tab provides a historic overview of your search ads campaigns and compares it with a competitor you select in the top left corner.

AppTweak shows here a historic log of all the keywords for which we have found ads in the past for your app and your competitors. It's a great source of information to understand your Search Ads Visibility and find new keyword opportunities.

The venn diagram gives an idea of search ads visibility and shows which app has bid on the most keywords. You can also use this feature to see how many keywords are unique to your search ads campaign and on how many keywords both apps have run ads on in the past.

In the Keyword table below, you can view all the terms you have bid on in the past. The "count" metric indicates how many of your paid keywords actually contain that specific term. For example, you see that for "workout", both Adidas Running and Runkeeper have run ads. But Adidas has bid on 450 keywords that contain the term workout, whereas Runtastic has only bid on 114 combinations.

If you click on the number, you can see exactly what those combinations are.

All this data is an excellent source of information to help you find new keyword ideas for your search ads campaign. By scanning through the keywords that are unique to your competitor's you can find new opportunities to bid on.

2. Find out who might be stealing away downloads from your top-performing organic keywords

How well protected are you on your top organic keywords? Who might be stealing away downloads by running an ad at the top of the search results? You can find out with the Organic Keyword Protection feature.

In the Organic Keyword Protection section, you can see a list of the top 50 keywords AppTweak estimates drive most organic downloads to your app. For each keyword, you see whether or not we've detected an ad of your app, how often the ad appears (Share of Voice) and how well protected you are on this keyword. You also see which competitors are bidding on these keywords along with their SOV.

If you'd like to see who is running ads on a keyword that is not in the table, you can type it in the search bar.

We fetch the ads once a day and calculate the SOV based on the results of the last 90 days. "No bid" means that we haven't detected an ad in the last 90 days.

Can't find any ads for your app? AppTweak emulates a wide variety of profiles to simulate searches on the App Store on a daily basis to fetch keyword rankings and discover ads. If you don't see the keywords your app is bidding on, you have likely chosen to target your ads to specific regions, age ranges, or users with specific privacy settings only. As a result, it is possible Apple is not showing your ads to the personas we emulate.

3. See which keywords competitors are currently bidding on

In the Paid Keywords section you can see who else is running ads on your paid keywords. But more interestingly you can also spy on your competitor's keywords and find out which keywords they are currently bidding on.

We fetch the ads once a day and calculate the SOV based on the results of the last 90 days. You can export this list by clicking on the "export" button at the top right.

4. Monitor SOV history for your top keyword and adjust ad spend accordingly

Some advertisers rely on just a handful of keywords to drive downloads to their apps. For these advertisers, it is extremely important to closely monitor the competition on these keywords and adjust bids as needed. Our detailed SOV In-Depth Study feature can help with this research!

Our In-Depth study will give you a more precise SOV estimation per keyword because we will simulate a search for that keyword to fetch the ads much more often (up to 50 times a day). Therefore we can catch more ads per keyword and better understand which ads show up most often.

To study a keyword, you just need to type the keyword into the search field, and a graph showing the history of the top bidding apps will appear. You can adjust the data range in the top right.

To analyze the trend of one specific app more in-depth, just hover over the app name in the footer to make the line stand out in the graph.

Depending on your plan you can study up to 10 (Guru Plan) or 20 (Power Plan) keywords.

When entering a new keyword into the search field it is possible the following warning message shows up 'Detailed Rolling SOV History Calculation in Progress...'. This means that AppTweak was not tracking this keyword before in the in-depth study database. Therefore, to be able to give you an accurate estimation AppTweak needs to execute a large number of searches, spread over 3 days. Please check back in 3 days to see the graph and history.
